Our Values
SHMC Children’s Ministry seeks to guide and nurture children, in partnership with their family, to a growing, committed relationship with Jesus Christ.
Our Values:
1. Provide authentic worship experiences that are child-targeted
2. Teach the Bible creatively, using a variety of methods
3. Promote friendships among children and partner with families
4. Involve children in church events and service projects
5. Encourage children to invite friends to church activities and represent Jesus in their world
6. Keep children spiritually, emotionally, and physically safe
7. Create a fun and exciting atmosphere that draws children to Jesus and to the church
Family Matters
We believe that what happens at home is more important than what happens at church. Statistics show that our Children’s Ministry will have 40-80 hours a year to impact the children who regularly attend our ministry programs. Parents & Guardians have over 3,000 hours with their children during that same year. For this reason, we put a lot of emphasis on Family Ministry. We want to equip families to be the spiritual leaders of their children. We welcome families on the journey to discover faith together!
Nursery
The purpose of the nursery is to provide for the needs of infants and toddlers in a safe, clean, attractive, enriched and practical environment. We want to communicate the love of Jesus through the kind of care given. We have a commission: “Feed my sheep . . . Don’t just babysit them.”
A staffed nursery is available at our South Hutchinson campus each Sunday morning during our 8:30, 9:45, and 11:00 Worship Services. The nursery is located near the North entrance of the church. Please enter the nursery through the church office to check-in your child.
A staffed nursery is provided at Journey @ Yoder, Sunday mornings during the second hour 10:30-11:30 am
Parents are free to use the nursery as needed during the worship service from 9:30-10:30 am
Parent & Child Dedication
We believe that children belong first and foremost to God. Parents have an awesome responsibility to care for and be the primary spiritual leaders for their children. A parent/child dedication is a way for parents to show God, family, and friends that they are willing to take on the solemn responsibility of guiding their children into a relationship with God.
We will schedule several parent/child dedication services throughout the year. These special worship services take place independently of our Sunday morning worship services. Parents are asked to sign-up to participate in a dedication service by contacting Pastor Sheri (663-4244). We encourage you to invite as many family and friends as you would like to come for the service.
